Most owners of antiques cars would be devastated if anything ever happened to their prize possession; owing to their value, they will require specialist insurance. Although you might think it hard to obtain, it is surprising how many companies can actually supply antique car insurance. The classic car customer is in a fortunate position with so many specialist insurance providers as they are more likely to get the right policy at a competitive price. This area has not gone unnoticed by commercial auto insurers and they now have special policies for collectors of antique cars that reflect these specialized areas of auto cover. Coverage is calculated once a representative from the insurance company takes the details of your car and your personal details so as to provide the best policy. Your level of cover will depend on how much you can afford but it is possible to lower this by arranging for your deductible to be raised above the minimum set by the insurer. One particular benefit of insuring your antique car through a large commercial insurer is the fact that they should be reliable and will provide a certain peace of mind to the car owner. The other advantage of this type of insurer is their ability to arrange the protection on any other regular vehicle you own. Often, the cost of an antique car insurance policy is higher with this type of company but many owners feel the extra cost is worth it as they fell much safer knowing the company is well known and has a long history. Independent specialist auto insurers might be able to provide a better service and conditions; possibly even a lower cost but are unlikely to insure any other type of car. Some of these independent insurance companies will only insure a particular type of classic car, so if the car you are attempting to insure is a rare one, it may be difficult to find a provider that will insure it. It is worth doing some research when choosing an independent antique car insurer to make sure they have a good reputation as you will have a great deal of money at stake. This can be an awkward situation when you have been paying your insurance premium regularly to find the insurance company will not pay out on a claim you have made. Despite the often lengthy process of finding a reliable antique car insurance provider, you do not really have an option if you want to protect your investment.
